Summative Evaluation

I mananged to create three professional online presence which are website, Vimeo and Instagram. went to a creative conference in London. I was so nervous but this leaded me onto two opportunities which was an internship and a studio visit in Malaysia. I realised something amazing will happen whenever I force myself to do something I am scared about. I am not very keen on using Linkedin.

I accomplished two internships last summer, in Malaysia and in the United Kingdom. This sort of lead me wanting to work for a company right after I graduate. I met a few practitioners, unfortunately I did not contact them ever since.

Thought bubble festival have gain my confidence in my design work. I always thought that nobody want likes my illustrations and would buy my art but during the festival, people keep saying how they love my work and keep drawing. Some of them followed me in Instagram.  Thought Bubble is also a platform for me to talk to other practitioners such as Isaac, Ben and Jake. They all illustrators from all over the UK. A simple 'Hello' and 'I love your work' can lead into a massive amazing conversation.

During Easter, I recreated my promo pack. I think it  is the strongest  promo pack that I have ever done because it is easy to post (not 3D like my previous design), easy to handle, cheap and quick to create. My promo pack contains my CV, a business card and sample of my works. The fact that I used contrast in colour for my promo pack (maroon and yellow) hopefully will stand out than any other illustrative promo pack.

One of the thing that I proud of for this module is I created an animated CV. To be honest, I did it last minutes; I did it the weekend before the final presentation. The 44 seconds animation took me less than 48 hours which is pretty amazing. I am proud to show it to my future client and I believe that the animated CV is very professional. (Even Emanuele Colombo, my favourite animator agreed with me)

My other strength for this module is my portfolio and presentation boards. I think my portfolio and presentation boards look professional in terms of layout and font. I think one of my strength in this industry is layout. Creating a portfolio have made me realised that I have done more work than I thought and I probably need to add few pages more for the end of year show.

I think my presentation went well, the fact that I did not rehearse and just read my note before the presentation. I think for the pass three years, I definitely have gain presentation skill. I think presenting infront of everybody is my second nature. Yes I got nervous at the very beginning but once I start talking, the nervous is gone.

I sort of left my blogging and contacting practitioners to the last minutes. This is because I don't know which practitioners to approach and I am lack of confidence of my practice. But I gathered strength and start contacting them during Easter break and some of them have replied and they love my work. This made me realised that professionals can be very friendly and they are willing to give advices to students. I wish I realised about this sooner.  My animated CV was not working during the presentation because the iMac does not have Wifi on (saved my animation on Vimeo). So next time, I just need to have the actual video ready and stop depending on the internet!
