Saturday Art School.

I was a student ambassador for Saturday Art School and I had to work at the ceramic workshop, helping tutors with Illustration and Sculpture course for 5-11 years old children and 12-16 years old teenagers.

I also did some small sculpture during the session. Sculpting taught me a lot; for example A sculpture usually look different than the sketch because a sculpture usually made out out newspaper, wires and masking tape then dipped it into plaster.

A character

I like the blur character. The used of blue for the character make it stand out than the background.

Lizzie Mckay

Lizzie Mckay inspired me a lot especially for my personal postcard business (click here). The used of colours, shapes, leaves inspired me a lot. I like how she used a mixture of shapes and lines drawing to complete her illustration.

After School Club.

After School Club (Autumn) : Animation
Last autumn, I joined an After School Club under the progression team. I have to teach teenagers  between 15 to 19 years of age about the Animation technique involving stop motion. By doing tho workshop, I leant a lot because I had started doing my Animation university brief so it helped e a lot in terms of narratives, charter design and model making. However, I also have to help students with their Animation. Conveying my new knowledge to another person helps to reinforce my knowledge.

After School Club : Thought Bubble Workshop.
There was a Thought Bubbles Workshop that I joined around early November. We had to make paper lanterns for Thought bubbles to hang on cardboard trees during the event. This was my first attempted creating a lantern and it was easier than I had thought.

After School Club (Spring) : Illustration and Graphic Design.

Since January, there has been another After School Club but instead of animation,I have to teach teenagers (15 -19 years old) illustration and graphic design for eight weeks. There were also few other student ambassadors from different courses such as Fine Art and Graphic Design. In the second week, Adam and I had to talk about illustration, what it is, what you do, future careers and answers any questions and show out sketchbooks. I really enjoy the After School Club because it is escapism from doing my university projects. The After School Club has also boosted my confidence and improved my communication skills and this will really help me in future when I hope to be a lecturer. Sometimes I am a bit scared to mingle with young students, but after I started talking and helping them, they were friendlier than I thought.

Recently, I went to Colours May Vary a lot as we had our exhibition over there. When I was helping out with the exhibition, I saw this book and for me it is really interesting as it contains different pattern designers from all over the place and it is good for designers and patterns references. It was a bit expensive but I think it worth it. I used this book a lot when I did my Responsive module as I did a lot of pattern live brief such as for TigerPrint, Wrapped.Co and my postcards. I think this year I am into patterns a lot which I do not know why but I am seem to obsess with it. I think this is good because this shows that I am experimenting different path of illustration and starting to shape my individual practice as a illustrator.
