Sketchbook

I really enjoy bookbinding techniques so I decided to create my own sketchbooks start from scratch. Get the some papers from a drawer, box (for its cover) from the library, a needle and some three. This bookbinding technique is called saddle stitch. I learn this technique from youtube. I found it difficult at first but I keep making and praising and now I am very good at it. 

Save money and gaining my bookbinding skill. Well, the other reason that I bind my own sketchbook is because I cannot find any sketchbook that I convertible working with.

Publishing and book design

Comics, books cover, newspapers, magazines, graphics novels, maps, information manuals, adult comics, cook books and magazines (recipe illustrations), self publishes, zines, shops> point of sale.

Editorial and reportage

Newspaper, magazines, political campaign, documenting something that happens e.g. wars, museum, olympics, adult comics, flyers, leaflet, film reviews. 

Magazines>>> Fashion, illustration magazines, DIY magazines, illustrations/photography magazines.

Character and narrative

Comics, character design/concept, animation, film (horror, children, comedy romance etc), story boards, t-shirt design, concept arts, gaming magazines, costume design (film, pantomime, music show)

Product and packaging

T-shirt designs, postcards, gift wrappers, greeting cards, mugs, cosmetics, toys, food, plastic bags, drink-alcohol bottle, medicals, maps, set designs, duvet,s cushions and wallpapers.

Children's book and education 

children story books, children magazines (The Simpson, DIY) , educational books (science, maths, english)

Object and environment

Murals e.g. windows (shops, restaurant), statues, walls (graffiti, backdrop from gigs), billboards, bags,maps, inside a bus, wallpaper etc. 

Stop Motion

I am a student ambassador and I have to teach some teenagers between 12-18 years old animation and illustration. This was my first week and I had to teach them stop motion by using a software called iStopMotion. To be honest this was my first time and I had so much fun and learnt a lot even thought I have to teach those students stop motion. I think this will benefit my OUIL504 brief as we will learn it in a few weeks time.

Books
Children's story - children, parents, nursery care takers, tutors.
Educational - students, parents, teachers, lecturers.
Book covers- art students, male, female, book users, designers.
Cook book - chef, trainee chef, women, bride to be.
Instruction booklet - the produce user.

I found this illustration on the internet (But I don't know by who). Anyway the hand reminds me of my theme which is 'creepy' sort of theme for OUIL504

5 things I've learnt last year

1. To use 'multiply' effect in Photoshop.
2. I am good at drawing from references.
3. To draw human especially men as I went to life drawing classes and drew a lot of humans in my projects.
4. Hot to make hotdog books and variety book bindings. 
5. Illustration is not just a drawing/image in fact illustration is drawings/images that communicate messages through drawings. 

5 things I want to know

1. To make a website from scratch.
2. I really want to learn to make stickers.
3. Go to clay workshop and make something from it.
4. How to run my own business, setting up my own studio and how to work under an agent.
5. Animation. I really want to make animation

5 strengths

1. Good at managing my time.
2. Note down all to do list in my diary.
3. Good at picking colour scheme .
4. Get excited easily about new projects and things going on in 2nd year
5. Good at Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

5 things I want to improve on

1. Improve my drawing on perspectives, angles and depth.
2. Presentation skill.
3. Look at the other contemporary illustrators/graphic designers/animator work and apply them within my work and visit local gallery a lot.
4. Document whatever I fount interesting .
5. Not to get distracted easily.
6. Experiment more.

5 examples

I really want my work to be paint on a wall somewhere I mean I am the one who actually will be painting my illustrations on wall. I think it is cool and it is like decorating the world with drawings. 

I want my work to print or place into variety background(?) e.g. I create my illustration onto of a piece of paper from a book like above. Basically designing my illustrations with no white background as I tend to leave the background white.

I want to create some illustrations/patterns that can apply into variety things. e.g. bags, book covers, plates, cups like Paperchase. I think this is because people especially women love this kind of stuff and designers/company do making a lot of money just by selling this stuff.

I would like to see my illustration to be animated and would like to learn animation as I think it would be cool and interesting.

I would like to tone down of the use of bright colours in illustration. I tried it in OUIL504 and the outcome came out pretty good and I am loving them. I also would love to see the use of different perspective and angles in my illustration. I found it difficult to apply them but I will have a go.
